It's all about the freckles

There is something about each of us that makes us unique & different. We may like this attribute or we may curse it; nonetheless, we own it. We might as well make it work for us!
I remember when my Son began to notice the freckles on his face. I would see him looking in the mirror longer than usual & tilting his head in different ways like he was really observing them. One day he asked me why he had freckles & I told him they were probably from the sun & that I thought they were cute! In a short time, he began to get more of these freckles on his face & I began to notice him becoming more concerned about them. One day, he asked the question again as to why he had the freckles when most of his friends did not. If he got teased at school, he never said so. I hope nobody called him freckle face at recess.  It was then that I took full advantage of this opportunity to be all knowing, all powerful & wonderful Super Mom! I sat him down & told him the big secret that only boys with freckles knew! I told him that having freckles meant that he was exceptionally smart & not only that, but the more freckles he had, the smarter he would become! He seemed to glow at that moment! He ran to the mirror & counted his freckles-all 13 of them. The next morning as soon as he woke up, he went straight to the bathroom mirror & counted 3 more freckles- for a total of 16 all together! By the end of that week, we had counted over 25 freckles on his face & by the end of the 6 weeks at school, he had brought all of his grades up, went from shy to self confident & even found his groove!
There is something about each of us that makes us unique & different. We may like this attribute or we may curse it; nonetheless, we own it! We might as well make it work for us because IT'S OUR FRECKLE!
